Bill explains that he names his trees after the names of the people in whose yard or pasture he finds them growing.

A guest in the audience describes how he has purchased eight trees from Bill, and the avocado fruit is so thin-skinned and tender that it can be eaten unpeeled.

He says that Bill's trees are cold hardy and without serious problems. Their only problem is that they are hard to find.

SAHS member and herbalist Alpha Martinez-Suarez demonstrates the use of Mexican avocado leaves in tea

Monica Hubbard helps pour and serve the tea to waiting members and guests.

Membership Chair Carol Hamling has made a delicious chicken dish flavored wit the leaves to serve to the audience.

Thanks to Carol, everyone got to try this gourmet treat.

It was the end to a very successful and informative meeting.

Special thanks to Bill Schneider and Devine Avocados, to Rebecca Kary for her photographs and organizational skills, to Alpha Martinez-Suarez for her tea demonstration, to the amazing Carol Hamling, who did the cooking and aptly hosted the program, to Tracy Lehmann at the San Antonio Express News for the great publicity and to all of the members and guests who came in droves to make this one of the most successful Herbs Society programs in recent memory!
