What is Carol-lee’s favorite SAHS meeting?
It’s the annual ‘Members share’.
Well it’s come and gone and I’m delighted that many SAHS members participated. Wonderful tidbits of lore and hints were discussed and shared amidst a relaxed atmosphere. All the pertinent categories were addressed: Culinary, Medicinal, Crafting and Gardening.
We learned how to make a delightful ‘squash flower’ card from Mary Lee Estes and rosemary brushes for applying marinades, and skewers for making herbal fancy infused shish-kabobs from Rosemary Kotrich. Diane Lewis shared her secret blends for a ‘sleepytime’ and other soothing teas, while Mimi Moffat provided each of us with recipe cards representing a few of her favorite herbal dishes. Martha Rodriguez regaled us with a tale and sample of real “Spanish Fly” and Veronica Gard entertained us with a
Reading of R. Kipling, A Garden. Shelia Mangra for bringing in unusual plants for sale and lots of free seeds to share.
I want to personally thank Sally Ann Hnatiuk and Monica Aubbard. Sally Ann, for bringing in 4 bags of freshly cut basil to share. I made a delicious pint of pesto sauce from the different basil varieties from my share. Monica, for a suitcase full of handmade herbal bath salts and sachets that she so sweetly donated to our prize table which enabled every SAHS attending to receive a gift. Everyone received double benefit -wonderful ideas and a prize.
